DVD Review: JOCK THE HERO DOG
JOCK THE HERO DOG is a new animated adventure that follows a puppy, the runt of the litter, who goes on adventures and isn’t afraid of anything.
The story takes place in the beautiful outback of South Africa and follows a series of life-lessons and bonging experiences that Jock goes through. There are several lessons being told in the movie such as loyalty, friendship, forgiveness and redemption, something all young kids today should learn more about.
The animation in the movie isn’t the same quality as we see in Disney movies or from other huge studios but they still did a decent job. What stands out is the amazing voice talent that includes Donald Sutherland, Helen Hunt, Ted Danson, Mandy Patinkin and musician Bryan Adams who lends his voice for “Jock”. How impressive is that! What’s better are the characters in the movie and how they come to life. We have good guys, bad guys, dogs communicating with roosters, wild boars chasing hawks and more. The big kid in me got a kick out of some of these unique characters who take front stage over their human counterparts.
Bottom line is, Jock the Hero Dog is a fun movie for the entire family looking for something new to watch. The DVD drops on July 24th and will be available exclusively at Wal-Mart so be sure you let the kiddos check this one out. It’s not an instant classic but it is a cute little movie.
